Fellows will participate in a longitudinal monthly lecture series dedicated to geriatric palliative care. The geriatric fellows are joined by the BIDMC palliative care fellows for these sessions. Topics include: pain management in older adults, assessment and management of dyspnea, anxiety and nausea, care for the actively dying patient, prognostication skills, and requests for hastening death. Additionally, fellows participate in two half day Geri-Talk Sessions run by Vital Talk Faculty. During these sessions fellows have the opportunity to practice communication skills such as breaking bad news and goals of care conversations with live actors and receive immediate feedback.
